Pua and Aurora and Ori too and chilly nights

July 14th
(Pua's mommy) Took Ori outside for the first time. Should have done that sooner. She had a BLAST. Lots of practice being picked up too. Just a bit squirmy due to "but I wanna!" But I wanna climb into the neighbor's yard. But I wanna climb the pea trelles. But I wanna go under that shed. Need to put the harness on her next time and start getting her ready for a woodland walk. She's ready to explore. Didn't wanna come back in either. Oh and no, I did it spur of the moment so no photos of first day out but will try to get some next time.

(Pua) I went to the window but I smelled something spooky so I'm waiting in my room till it's safe.

July 15th Aurora came to visit last night. I tried boxing with her as she climbed up. I was gentle but she didn't like that. She walked around a bit then came up. I left her alone for a bit then pounced her rear. She got mad and was going to leave but I started grooming her so she stayed awhile, pretending to ignore me. Then she left back to her baby and food.

So this photo started concern about Aurora. Her eye is puffy and there is a swelling behind that eye(left) I figured Ori smacked her a good one but then the next night I noticed a swelling behind her right eye but not as big. Swelled eye lid on left eye was fine by then though. Of course next day, Saturday by vet was out. Called an exotic vet in Portland and he recommended antibiotics but said it was likely safe to wait. So went to vet that Tuesday(no openings Monday) with her. Vet thought conjunctivitis so we got antibiotic eye drops and cream. Some days later I was looking at old photos and realized she's always had those lumps behind her eyes and I guess I just never noticed. She was really good at the vet though and never took a swipe at anyone. She just kicks with her back feet when you are trying to hold her. Vet swabbed her eyes. So I guess she just has freakishly large eye muscles but I'll keep an eye out for changes and we can aspirate if it looks like we need too.

Not sure why I never noticed.

We've had a mostly cool and wet summer till this last week(July 31st I'm posting, we're still behind)

July 15th
I was sniffing the window then went to pee in the closet but mom said no and moved me. I tried peeing by the door but mom said no and stuck me in the catbox and said peepee so I did. I'm a good girl. I just wanted to leave my mark back there.(This has become a semi-regular thing)

I was minding my own business in my yard when the dog across the street barked at me. how rude. I ran inside. Can't be too careful.

I wasn't sure at first on account of it not being blue cheese but after some hesitation I decided I do like Gorgonzola.

July 16th
It's rainy out so I'm just hanging in my room taking it easy.

July 17th
Aurora ate great last night and enjoyed playing with her baby so much she'd cry when Ori left to play on her own till she came back to play some more.

Aurora came to see me last night but it was 5am and I was in bed already. She was crying at not finding me and I woke up on the wrong side of the washer due to being rudely woken by her noise. She went down behind the sink to look for me and when I came out I saw her tail and whacked it. Then I whacked her when she tried to come back up. Mom told me I was bad and then showed me Aurora had not stolen anything so I set to eating and Aurora came back out. I caught her just before she left and groomed her rump so she sat and let me for a bit then left.

I went up onto the tower and after a circle around the room and a stop at the dirt box Aurora came back. I'm not used to her visiting twice and her climbing up reminded me of her old tower raids so I smacked her back down off the tower. She went and hid behind the washer for a long time. When she finally came out I tried to groom her rump again but she growled at me and left. She thought I was sending mixed signals. I was just confused by the break in routine.

Ori was pacing back and forth on the shelves wondering where her mommy went during all of this. She wasn't terribly worried though she would stop sometimes to claw her log.

July 17th evening
With all this rain it feels like fall. I went back to bed after my snack. Time for winter hours?

I got to go outside after all but I did wear a jacket. I climbed the tree then started across the front lawn. Neighbors dog barked at me. I nearly jumped out of my skin and ran inside.

July 18th
Ori took a tumble off the shelf into the the playpen with their bowl of soup. Poor Quasi dog was sleeping there and got covered in anteater soup. After being toweled off he went to sleep on the bottom towel shelf. Nothing can fall on him there. Guess who needs a bath today.

Ori was down on the ground exploring this morning. She poked around under the chair and desk clawed at the fridge door and made it all the way to the door to the rest of the house but it was still closed that early. I've not seen her on her own before so told her off from the safety of the towel shelf. Ori went back to the closet but looked like she couldn't get up so mom put her half way up. Ori turned around and came down. She went up the play pen then climbed up the wall climb bricks. Aurora came to check on her and cleaned out her ears.

They came down to the second shelf, just sat there awhile then went back up.

Jackpot! I found several little ant nests in the yard. Yummy. I had to lift a little rock to find one of them.

July 19th(Pua's mommy)
What a long day after a long night. To keep the night short after several failed attempts Aurora took possession of the princess hammock and Ori chose to sleep on the closet shelf. So I just pulled her from the hammock and took Aurora on her own to see the vet. She did really well. Never took a swipe at anyone, just her usual kicking when held in place. The ruling is conjunctivitis. Got antibiotic eye drops for her.

No worms in her poo. Funny we looked back at Pua's old records and she tested positive for basically every internal parasite including giardia and coccidia. That girl was a walking petri dish when we got her.

I set the crate by the closet when I got home but every time Aurora tries to get in the nest there's a growl and Aurora retreats to sleep on the hanging clothes. Poor Aurora her own baby doesn't even like her or Aurora is the one growling and doesn't want to deal with her baby now. Not sure which one is growling. Hopefully that will go back to normal tonight because Ori did still like her mom last night before setting into their separate corners.

Aurora tried again but Ori is still being a demon child and wont let her in the nest so she moved to the blue shelf to sleep.

Gotta give Aurora some credit for smarts for a change. Ori rebuffed her trying to join her in the nest again so Aurora shoved her way inside the blue house under Ori since Ori was sleeping on top with it smashed down. Ori looked confused but just curled back up to sleep.

July 20th 2:30am
I got up at midnight. If the weather is going to act like it's fall I will too.

3:00am
Ori let Aurora back into the nest tonight after she had come out to eat.

Noon
This morning Aurora is squished inside the mashed down house with Ori on top again.
