It did not go well. He stuck his nose down to sniff and he got poked. He reared up and whacked the cup with his claw, sending ants flying everywhere, then ran away. Seems dead ants can still sting.

For those of you that think having a house-pet anteater is all sunshine and roses: Discovered Aurora was pooping up inside the box spring of my bed. I was worried she was constipated when I stopped finding her poop in the usual spot, at least it was lovely logs. The box-spring is now boarded up.

Aurora moved to the closet because she didn't like me leering at her baby.He kept getting down from the hammock to play on his own so I just had to watch so she gathered him up and left.

Aurora tried using the little hammock but after sitting there for a bit decided it was too small.

Maybe I can make it
I tried giving my hand to go across and he grabbed it but I foolishly let him pull my hand towards him and he decided it wasn't stable enough. So I pulled the corner of the hammock close and he went in.

The next day and he was going back and forth repeatedly like a pro with mom sitting on the window shelf watching him.

That was spooky
I went and made her some more food and she was here instead of sleeping in the hammock as she had been. Guess the blender was scary.

When I gave Cinco back Aurora had been on the play pen so I sat him there but she turned and went up right away. Cinco tried climbing up after her but took a wrong turn when he saw the hammock. Neither of them could figure it out so I had to retrieve him for her.

Cinco was in the closet and Aurora was in the hammock and seemed to be asking for him. So I got him but I weighed him first then went to return him. Aurora came down so I sat him on the playpen by her but she climbed back up right away. Cinco tried climbing after her but made a wrong turn when he saw the hammock.

Rescued

Aurora was over on the cage complaining so I brought her some food. Then headed to the closet to get the old bowl since that's where she was earlier. I got hissed at. Went to step on the stool and got hissed at again and then I realize baby hisses are coming from the floor.

I got the flashlight and there is Cinco half way up the stool leaning out desperately trying to get hold of the dresser or climb bar to get up. Behind him lays the blue house on the floor.

Not sure if he tumbled with it from trying to climb on it, he's climbed on it before but only mashed it in, or Aurora knocked the house down with Cinco inside as she had been messing around behind the house earlier in the day and might have tried something like that again.

So I go to rescue the little guy and he cries out because I have to peel him off the stool. Nope doesn't cry out when he falls or when he finds himself alone on the floor, just when I rescue him. Aurora was already halfway to me so I just put him on her back. That being the second baby incident that day, I weighed him earlier, she decided it was time to change nests again and moved to the princess hammock.

Good thing Pua volunteered for Laundry day earlier that day. She got to use her princess hammock and then woke early enough to walk the house a bit and sniff out the back window.

She had gone in it earlier and Cinco got off thinking they were home and she left. He came darting out at my feet then saw her tail and ran over climbing back on.

Exploring is stressful
The white tears tend to happen due to stress but Pua sometimes gets them when woken for a walk. Aurora hasn't been in the rest of the house since birthing Cinco and wasn't out there much before hand either. Pua sometimes gets them when woken for a hike but I think that is just sleepy eyes then.

PS the white on the condo is old paint, just to avoid confusion.

Since she was wanting to sleep in the condo I took her back to my room and she settled back into the hammock.

March 19th

March 20th

The battle for the princess castle continues. Aurora and Cinco left the castle last night and soon as her claws hit the floor Pua darted up and settled into the hammock. Aurora came back a short time later though after going to the closet to relieve herself, at least it wasn't in Pua's food.

Aurora climbed up the pole and stood at the top ready to climb in the hammock but Pua reared up showing her claws and stood her ground. Aurora didn't want to fall so got on the platform instead and threatened Pua but Pua did not flee as she had hoped. Aurora gave up and lay on the platform with Cinco.

She later stood and sniffed the hammock but couldn't see Pua since she was inside. Pua was aware though and made a savage attack at Aurora but with the hammock in the way it was just a comical hammock thrashing around in the general direction of Aurora. Aurora stood looking bewildered but settled down again.

Eventually Pua left to eat and Aurora took over the hammock. I fed her there a couple times but later found her wandering the room looking for her baby. I found him on the lower shelf hidden amongst the books again. When I gave him back to her she was in the closet but chose to go back to the princess hammock.

Something very special about that hammock.

He tastes a tomato, looks cute and climbs the pole, then plays with mom. Watch out for that claw int he ear that looks painful. Tomato and treat cup were there from night before as daily cleaning hadn't happened yet. Need to use a heavier pad so it stops sliding. Puffy noises are mom breathing. Spot on his nose is a drop of Aurora's food. If he likes tomatoes bet he'd like ketchup. I'm wondering if he might show more interest in Pua's "solid" food over Aurora's soup.

March 21st

Aurora was climbing up behind the sink & I hear baby cry, then cry again then a thump. Aurora stood and blamed Pua. He had been scrapped off on the climb up. I retrieved him from the sink cabinet but wasn't sure where to put him and stuck him on the climb pole to the side of the sink.

Aurora came and started grabbing at him trying to pull him off, like: "What are you doing there. Get off that thing right now, young man!" She also sniffed him over to be sure he was okay.

He tried to obey by climbing onto her head but she didn't like that and pushed him off onto the sink. He found his way onto her butt and they continued on up the tower.

March 22nd - Laundry day

I say no to laundry day

She pulls that out every night and plays with it.

She wasn't happy about laundry day. Sorry girl but time to get your bedroom cleaned up.

Aurora was in the princess hammock so I tried Putting Pua in the circus hammock but she was having none of that. She tried pestering Aurora to get her to leave but that didn't work. So then she got brave and tried to climb in the hammock with her but that didn't go her way either. She finally gave up and settled into the pet clothes basket.
